AutoPulse System Information
At the 2007 Town Meeting, Warrant Article 15 was approved for the purchase for the purchase of a Zoll AutoPulse System.
This system generates consistent and optimal chest compressions, offering the promise of normal blood flow during cardiac arrest. The system includes a backboard and cable ties, User Guide, Quick Reference Guide, shoulder restraints, head immobilizer, grip strips, in-service training DVD and one year warranty. It also includes three batteries, a battery charger, the single use chest compression band, and a soft carry case for the unit.
This equipment is used in conjunction with manpower in a cardiac arrest situation. It is planned to be carried on the rescue response truck in Fremont.

Consistent Compressions. No Interruptions.
For victims of Sudden Cardiac Arrest, only one thing is certain – chest compressions will be required. Yet, manual compressions – even when they are done well – only provide 10 - 20% of normal blood flow to the heart and 30 - 40 % to the brain.1
Now, there’s an alternative. The only device of its kind, the ZOLL® AutoPulse® is a revolutionary non-invasive cardiac support pump that moves more blood, more consistently than is possible with human hands. Easy to use and battery operated, its load-distributing LifeBand® squeezes the entire chest. As a result, victims receive consistent, high-quality compressions that deliver improved blood flow.
AutoPulse also minimizes no-flow time. It allows rescuers to provide compressions while performing other life-saving activities, or while transporting a victim down the stairs or in the back of a moving ambulance.
The AutoPulse delivers improved blood flow without interruptions of fatigue and provides hospital caregivers better access to the patient resulting in the possibility of improved survival for cardiac arrest victims. In fact, it has been shown to double survival to hospital discharge5.
